The overall aim of this composition was to trigger the listener’s interest into auditory hallucinations – what do suffers from auditory hallucinations actually hear? After completing my composition and listening to it for the first time, I felt that it was difficult to distinguish between the day-to-day sounds and the sounds that were included to reflect hallucinations. At first I attempted to make the distinction between the two as clear as I could. However after doing further research, it became apparent that people with these hallucinations are quite often unable to distinguish between what is real and what is in their mind. As a result of this, I purposefully reverted to the more abstract version of my composition. One could argue that the challenge to separate the real sounds and the hallucinatory sounds in the composition reflects the difficulty people with schizophrenia have on a daily basis.
